On the eastern side of New Haven CT and just over the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge (Q-Bridge) is Morris Cove New Haven Connecticut a hidden gem along the New Haven CT shoreline.
Also known as East Shore, Morris Cove is a curving strip of coastline bordered on the north by Upson Terrace, on the east by the town of East Haven and on the west and south by Long Island Sound.
There are many choices when it comes to home styles in Morris Cove. Along the lovely tree-line streets and beachfront coves you'll find everything from colonials, capes, bungalows, ranches, raised ranches, split levels, muti-family, condominiums and historic homes.
Morris Cove is a very close knit neighborhood that is evident by the great sense of community. Each year the community comes out for the annual holiday events like the Halloween Parade and the Easter Egg Hunt. There is also a yearly barbecue hosted by the East Shore Neighborhood Preservation Association held at Anthony's Ocean View. One of the more festive highlights is the annual Fantasy of Lights where Lighthouse Point Park is transformed into a world of fantasy with beautiful holiday light displays.
One of my favorite places in Morris Cove is the Pardee Seawall Park where you'll find people enjoying a relaxing morning or evening stroll or taking in the scenic and breathtaking harbor views and cool ocean breeze sitting on one of the many benches that line the park. It is also a great place to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the harbor off of Long Wharf Drive.
Lighthouse Point Park is probably one of the best known areas in Morris Cove where thousand of people come to each year to enjoy the beautiful sandy beach, Splash Pad, playground, boat launch, fishing pier and picnic areas.
The Five Mile Point Lighthouse in Lighthouse Point Park overlooks the New Haven Harbor and is just a few steps away from the famous 1916 antique Carousel that is open today and is a truly beautiful exhibit enjoyed by all who visit it.
Another point of historic significance found in Morris Cove is the Pardee-Morris House. Further up the shoreline on Woodward Avenue is Fort Nathan Hale Park and Black Rock Fort. There are wonderful recreational facilities at East Shore Park which offers tennis courts, ball fields, bike paths and walking trails. Hannah's Dream Playground a handicap accessible playground is a favorite spot for residents and children of the East Shore area.
The beauty of Morris Cove is reflected in its shoreline appeal and is why when people move here they stay a lifetime. It's an old-fashioned neighborhood where you'll find people who live here out walking and where everyone is so friendly.
Residents are especially proud of our firemen who stand at the ready 24 hours a day providing the highest level of service with their high tech trucks and equipment.
Morris Cove has two schools to serve the educational needs of its students. Nathan Hale School is a public school for grades K-8 and St. Bernadette School is a private parochial school with full day Pre-K3/Pre-K4 and full day for grades K-8.
The Morris Cove neighborhood also has a convenience store, hair salons, liquor store and gas station. Tweed New Haven Airport is also located nearby for all of your travel needs and you're within minutes of downtown New Haven, highways and shopping. With all it has to offer, you will absolutely love living in Morris Cove just as much as I do.
