Should Real Estate Brokerages Give Agents Quotas?

I had a conversation recently with a prospective agent concerning quotas. As a broker, instilling a quota for agents is something that literally has never crossed my mind. Of course, I want all agents affiliated with this brokerage to be successful in the business of real estate. But more than anything, I want the agents to take advantage of being a licensee. I believe having this real estate license that we share is a GREAT thing. Being a licensee can provide a great living for full time agents, it can provide an opportunity to make an extra income as a part time agent and my favorite--- the ability to make a commission on investment properties you may purchase. The way you take advantage of your license differs for each agent.

So, it's not the number of transactions that's important. It is more important that you take advantage of your license by using it in a way that works for you.

As long as agents are knowledgeable and customer service oriented...the volume should not matter at all!
