It's a Beautiful Day for a Picnic in Crofton MD

When you're looking for something to do in Crofton MD…

Take the family to Swann Park, located off Crofton Parkway at Swinburne Avenue in Old Crofton. 

Let the kids play on the equipment, toss pebbles into the pond and watch them skip across the water, critique (or cheer) golfers on the adjacent 12th hole of Crofton Country Club, or take photos of the scenic red barn across the 13th fairway.

Swann Park is a nice walk from most homes in “Old Crofton” and there’s plenty of adjacent parking for anyone coming from nearby communities. 

If you live in Crofton Meadows, take a stroll along the banks of a large pond in the center of the community or join your neighbors for some sandlot baseball at the community field.  Scattered throughout the area, you’ll find tot lots and even tennis courts that are maintained by individual condo associations.

Crofton Park, off Davidsonville Road (Rt. 424) between Reidel Road and Crofton Middle School, has several play areas, an amphitheater, a par course that winds through the woods, picnic tables and pavilion, ball fields and a small pond circled by a sidewalk.  There’s plenty of parking, a seasonal concession stand, and rest rooms.

Bell Branch Athletic Complex is actually located in nearby Gambrills MD, but you’ll find Crofton Athletic Council teams playing their nearly every weekend in spring and fall.  In addition to the ball fields, there’s a picnic area and pavilion, playground, concessions stand (open seasonally), restrooms and a dog park.

Next time you’re thinking “It’s a beautiful day… let’s do something outside…”, why not head over to one of these parks and spend a lazy afternoon soaking in the sun!
