The deadline to have a home under contract and be eligible for the $8000 or $6500 homebuyer tax credit is April 30, 2010.The homebuyer tax credit deadlines are looming.  If you are looking to purchase a Kingwood home, there is still time to take advantage of the $8000 First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit or the $6500 Homebuyer Tax Credit for current homeowners.  However, time is quickly running outYou must have a home under contract by the end of day on April 30, 2010.  That only gives you 23 days to find that perfect Kingwood real estate property and get it under contract. 

You are considered a first time homebuyer if you haven't owned a home in the last three years, even if you have owned a home previous to that.  You are eligible for up to the full amount of either tax credit if you make less than $125,000 as a single taxpayer/married but filing head of household or if you make less than $225,000 as a married couple.  If you make more than that, you may still be eligible for a portion of the tax credit.  That is why you need a Kingwood real estate professional to help you.

I believe this is the REAL END of the tax credit.  I was listening to a real estate radio talk show host talking with a local lender and they were certain it had to be extended.  I disagree.  I'm not sure our country can afford to extend it again.

I'm trying to make sure buyers know there still is time.  So many folks think they must close and fund by end of April, nope, just be under contract!  Let's get the word out there!
