Life's A Beach

girl in ocean, waves, blue skyMy granddaughter (age 7) is with me for a week during her school's Spring Break.  She has only seen the ocean three times.  Today was the first time I've been able to get her to join me in the surf.  Based on the smile on her face, I'm pretty darn sure she had a good time.

These pictures were taken at Dillon Beach, CA, exactly 20 miles from my front door.  Today, life was a beach and what a relaxing beautiful day it was!

If you haven't taken a day off lately to play hooky ... then grab your calendar and make a date.  I feel like my batteries have been recharged!  I'm sure the vitamin "D" didn't hurt either.  And now ... I have a whole bunch of sand to extract from clothes, shoes, blankets and a 7 year-old who had the time of her life with her "Nana Boo".

Cynthia, what a beautiful day on the Sonoma Coast!  This is a great time to go, nobody else around, no fog, but boy, I bet that waters cold!!!  Like you,  I take the ocean for granted.  When I meet adult who tell me that they've never seen the ocean I think "Whoa, I'm lucky".

Cynthia, isn't it great to have the ocean nearby? It looks like it was a gorgeous day with your granddaughter. What fun to have her with you for a week!

Sharon - I have never lived more than 60 miles away from the Pacific Ocean.  I can't imagine not having it within an easy drive there and back.  I know some folks never see the ocean during their life and that is just SAD!

Barbara - 7 Grandchildren!!  Wow!  I'm hoping for more but I'm keeping my mouth shut!  Reverse psychology will hopefully pay off.

Jim - oh, yeah, that water is COLD.  But that doesn't stop a 7 year old, so it won't stop me.

Bob & Carolin - yep, my 76 yr old Aunt was there too and she also braved the surf.  I love family time!

It's so much fun to play hooky, especially if no one knows where you are. Looks like you two had a great time.

What a great idea! Life is so unpreditable, we should all play hooky once in a while to recharge! Hm, I might just have to call in sick this week! LOL! ;-)
