Summertime In The City - Real Estate Agents On Tour

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Destiny Real Estate Cambridge, MA

Spring flowers in a window box on a yellow house in CambridgeThose are spring flowers in the window box at right but it was summertime in Cambridge today.

91 degrees! In the first week of April!!

There's something not quite right about a springtime scorcher before the leaves have come out on the trees.

It was a new high temperature record of course. Mind you, the low temperature record is 16 degrees.  Temps under 20 wouldn't have surprised me as much as today's heat did.

What a day for a tour!  We had 28 new listings to see.  So many beautiful properties - it was a superb tour.  From a glorious single family, to two different dramatic lofts, a co-op on the Charles, a two-level condo in Porter Square - we saw beautiful homes - one after another after another.  Too many to remember by the end of the day.

28 properties is a mighty trek.  Typically when I put together a tour for buyers I don't schedule more than half a dozen unless we're pressed for time.  28 listings in four towns is a marathon.

Bleary eyed we pressed on - in our un-air conditioned car since it just wasn't right to turn on the A/C on April 7th in New England.

Tomorrow I'll go over my notes and start making calls. Right now it's time for some well earned shut eye.

Liz, it was 90 here, I so wanted to take the doors off my jeep but just didn't plan ahead.

28 homes? You all deserve a medal, wow! I think it would be GREAT fun to come up to MA to see my cousin, and make sure I was there for a tour day and ... JOIN YA!

But seriously, if it that warm someone has to give in and turn on the air, LOL.

Boy, you had a busy day, Liz, and in 91 degree weather.  Amazing.  But, honestly, live dangerously and put the a/c on next time.  A bunch of sweaty agents going through a house is going to do no one any good :)

Hi Andrea ~ Tour day is Wednesday and you've got a standing invitation!  Hope your weather is cooling off too like ours is supposed to.

Hi Jane ~ My face looked like a tomato after a while. I'm all for A/C in the car especially in the absence of vent windows - something I miss keenly.

Your day sounds like it was a military operation. Did you hand out ice-cream in that heat?

Hi Liz,

I might be able to handle viewing 28 listings in one day, on the computer, but in-person and riding in an unairconditioned car in 91-degree heat?  That sounds too tough for me!  Congratulations on making it to the end!

91 degrees?  Just a couple of weeks ago I was hearing about snow there! Viewing 28 homes is tough--12 is a good preview number for me, 20 and I go nuts, never have attempted 28!

Liz - Wow 91 degrees, it hasn't even been that hot here in South FL.  I love the heat, but 91 is starting to get a little too hot and this is coming from someone who has their AC set on 80 degrees during the summer.

Hi Ross ~ Just like I advise buyers I took a few quick notes after each one that we saw. Otherwise it would all be a blur. Some were so fabulous that I'm still thinking about them.

Hi Steve ~ Our tours have been long for a number of weeks now. The tour before Easter still had a dozen or so properties. This one after the holiday was particularly long.

Hi Joe ~ Truth be told today is my kind of weather - 25 or more degrees cooler - love it!

Hi Ellie ~ A day like that calls for ice cream that's for sure!

Hi Tim ~ My car is full of diehards - we love it!

Hi Lottie ~ And all the flowering trees came out at once - way too early. I can't believe our trees are flowering at the same time as the cherry trees in DC.

Hi Michelle ~ It was nuts! And with no leaves and lots of pavement it's all too much for me. I love spring.

Liz, I didn't think it would last. It rained here and I woke to 48 degrees.
