Just a few years ago, University Parkway was little more than the dividing line between Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Although University Parkway was home to some beautiful country clubs, amenities were sparse and it was a sleepy area.
But not anymore! Thanks in large part to the development of Lakewood Ranch to the east of I-75, the University Parkway area west of 75 has blossomed into a thriving metropolis all it own. With Lakewood Ranch, one of the most popular new developments to the east, and the Sarasota-Bradenton airport at its far western end, the corridor was destined to become a shopping destination, with movie theaters, trendy restaurants & martini bars.
Once known more for upscale country clubs, University Parkway is popular as well with the young adult population, with an explosion of affordable but luxurious town homes and condos. There are, of course, still the country clubs, with the grand University Park Country Club topping the list for gorgeous upscale homes, a brand new clubhouse and pristine golf courses.
