Open the Closet, Throw in Your Pride, Slam that Door Shut and Lock it Behind You.

Do you want to earn an exceptional income in this business then that's what your first requirement will be.  What is pride anyway?  The Miriam-Webster Dictionary defines PRIDE as:

1 : the quality or state of being proud: as a : inordinate self-esteem : conceit b : a reasonable or justifiable self-respect c : delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship

I enjoy seeing and hearing associates define their niche as selling or listing homes only within a certain dollar amount criteria.  How can this be so?  Conceptually it seems to be an excellent aspiration.  Not all customers started as Buyers or Sellers with abilities to purchase or market multi-million or as a minimum, several hundred thousand dollar homes.  How do you become a specialist in specific price ranges?  I've always thought this intriguing.  As time marches forward and you've begun to exclude certain non-qualifying persons or properties in your repertoire I believe you will and can soon identify that you may have made a mistake.  We've all been taught from day one that this is a "people" business.  Anyone can sell houses!  What is it that we are marketing, it's ourselves, no more, no less.  In the long run it will be much easier to be GRACIOUS than PROUD, possibly more profitable too.

Well put. Some of my finest (and hopefully lifelong) clients have come from those so called "smaller" transactions.

I'm delighted to hear that Rachael.  Defining customers by dollar value would appear to be an arduous task at best.  Thanks!

Great post Kevin, and I agree with you. The American Dream does not have to cost a million dollars. Have a great week!

Dan, we may have been heading in that direction, now many are getting a second chance.  It's refreshing to see that happen. You too have a fabulous week, thanks!

I am the Shack Diva so I specialize in low end properties and am darn proud of it :wink wink wink wink:  Wouldn't be opposed to selling a half million dollar house every now and then but I like income coming in at a steady pace.

Love the garbage can.  How appropriate.

Hi Kevin, Great post!  I agree. We cannot define ourselves based on a price range.  Today, in our area we are finding that homes $250K and below are selling the most quickly, especially those under $150K. Gotta agree with Renee, a steady paycheck coming in is the name of the game today.

Sandy, the steady paycheck is a huge benefit.  Last month a $58K condo sale came with a surprise 10% commission.  I would be ecstatic to sell those all day long.  Where have you been?

Hi Kevin, you are right one target.   We all like the big transactions.  But lately the business has been in the small transactions.  Do your job well, be gracious, and someday those folks will remember you when they buy their next home ...

Dale - Like your company name alludes to, it's all about "Peace of Mind", thanks.

Tagrid - As we move from credit to cash modes all will begin to CARE much more!
