Taxpayer Protection Act of 2007 - H.R. 1677

By
Real Estate Agent with ERA Queen City Realty

The full U.S. House voted to approve the Taxpayer Protection Act of 2007. The current law requires a seller to complete an affidavit and supply their social security number at closing. Once this bill is ratified by the Senate and the President signs off, the new legislation would not require social security numbers to be made available to buyers.  This effort will reduce exposure of personal information and perhaps curtail identity theft. Identity theft has made this legislation a high priority and it is one that has the support of NAR.

Make sure you reach out to your State Senator and ask them to support this bill.
