Summer is the best time of the year to find ski property for sale.
During the winter ski season there are more buyers in town in the popular ski communities so it is harder to negotiate for a good price when you are competing with more buyers. Also many of the ski properties are in a rental pool during the ski season so they are harder to preview with guests occupying the properties.
So why not go shopping in the summer or fall for ski property? It is so much easier to preview properties and there is very little competition with other buyers who don't make a special trip out during the summer. You may also have more to choose from with better chances to negotiate for a better price. Sellers tend to be more motivated too. They get much less rental income during the summer months and may be more flexible on the price.
Ski towns are also a fun place to visit in the summer and lodging rates are significantly lower.
Park City Utah is a great ski town to consider if you are looking to buy a second home ski property. It is fast becoming a popular place to buy ski property because it is so easy to fly to. The Salt Lake International Airport offers numerous non-stop flights to most U.S. destination and is only a short 30-40 minute drive away. You also can typically get more for your money in Park City than in other popular ski communities such as Vail, Aspen & Telluride.
