Dying For Property -- Bellingham, WA

By
Home Inspector with King of the House Home Inspection, Inc. Home Inspector Lic #207

I saw a story in the local paper today, the Bellingham Herald. I guess it is a sign of the times but I could not read it without some amusement.

I thought that they said, at one time, that you can only count on death and taxes. I guess that maybe death is not as reliable as it used to be. The City of Bellingham, which owns Bayview Cemetery -- the largest cemetery in Bellingham and an institution here -- is not moving enough property.

The city wants to maintain the services there, keep it looking nice, but the product is just not moving fast enough. So, apparently, the plan is to put together a buy one plot and get another at half price sale. That sounds like a killer deal to me. The full article is here

I have grave worries that the city fathers are making a "grave mistake" with this promotional venture.

So they are not dying fast enough and now they are looking for half bodies.  Is that so they can bury one person in two plots.  What a deal.

Gee whiz! I know budgets are tight, but a twofer cemetary plot? Seems like Bellingham could come up with a better campaign....something upbeat?

Kate,

That is so very rude. Wheatloaf, cousin to Nutsy, really is quite the superstar and his fans would sob if he was to crack up.

The boss

I think the city should diversify into the pet cemetery business. I believe Kate has lined up Bellingham's first two customers.
