Some Never Listen ...Others Hear and Prosper!

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Recently while listening to an agent complain about how things had not gone their way and how so many others seemed to be responsible, I was compelled to remind him that he had been the worst atendee at our weekly  sales meetings and had missed the majority of our new agent trainings and that perhaps he needed to look in the mirror, before casting blame.

Most of the problems he had been faced with were really nothing so complex that an agent with even only marginal training and expertise couldn't have handled  on their own.

Did he hear a word I said in this meeting ... no...because he didn't want to...just like he missed all those training sessions , he missed the point of my comments. Will he make it in real estate ?  I hope he does but it will be a long and stressful path.

If you are new to the business don't attempt to remake the wheel until you know how a wheel goes together and turns.

Have a prosperous week!

Hi Trey-

Watch and learn - then innovate once you know something.  It can't all be theory!

Trey: An attitude of healthy humility will take a newbie far. In the begining agents should listen a lot and try to understand why what in training makes sense, than listening critically. Best,

Hi Trey... like they say, "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink."  Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for the agent involved.

Hi Trey!
Wow...you echo so many of my sentiments!  It drives me crazy that agents are disappointed when they are outvoted and do not support having speakers come into our office yet will not go to weekly meetings outside the office that bring them so much wonderful information.  If it isn't convenient, then I guess they don't find it valuable.  Our industry is changing too much and too quickly to not make these kinds of efforts.

Trey, Some will take the 'woe is me' attitude about their lack of success when others will grab what they can while moving in a forward motion! You get out of this industry what you are willing to put in, time, energy and self-motivation are key!

Trey,

This is common, among small people with potential, it's the sales equivalent of the "Peter Principal."

You SHOULDN'T "hope he does". He obviously doesn't like what he's doing (or NOT doing) and it might well be better for him to find something he likes bette.

Trey:  I'm with Leslie.  We all like to see people succeed, but they have to want it for themselves.  And folks who are not going to hold themselves accountable are not going to be the ones who do make it in this business.

Trey: It will be interesting to see if he stays in the industry. Maybe he needed to spend more time being productive the whinning; maybe needs an attitude adjustment.
