Although some do need it more than others...
TLC, the "TenderLoving" Care Complex is located in Cape Coral, Florida. TLC was incorporated as a Not for Profit Organization in 1995 by the founder and executive director, Sherry Magness.
The "TenderLoving" Care Complex is a Christian Foster Care Home program designed to wrap its arms around hurting children and their families. Much of the work that TLC does is spread through word of mouth and numerous families in the community have been helped by volunteer foster families, mentors and the funds that have been raised to provide food and clothing for the children.
On July 28, 2007 TLC installed their new board members for 2007. Among the members of the board is my husband Shane Goushaw standing tall and handsome, with the goatee and brown hawaiian shirt.
The installation of the board members took place at the High Point Towers in the River District of Down Town Fort Myers. Some of the other festivities that evening were a Hawaiian Luau with dancers, a mouth watering tropical feast with pulled pork, mahi mahi, yellow rice, chicken kabobs, and steamed veggies. We also had a silent auction to raise funds for the facility and for the children. It was a fun and succesful event.
Funding for the children is provided soley through what TLC calls their "Fun" Raising Activities and donations.
TLC allows siblings who are separted from their parents to remain together in a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment. TLC fills in the gap for so many hurting children and their families. Children who are homeless, abandoned, neglected or who have parents that simply cannot provide for their daily needs are referred to TLC. TLC keeps as a very noble goal to reunite the children with the parents once the adults have a foundation and a safe environment to bring the children to. Sometimes this takes several years and during that time the children receive an education, food, a family, safety, loving hugs and room to laugh and just be a child.
