L Section, Rohnert Park, CA 94928
When I first arrived in Rohnert Park 25 years ago to hunt for a condo, I was asked by my real estate agent which section in Rohnert Park I was most interested in. Section? The agent explained to me that Rohnert Park is divided into neighborhoods called sections. Each section is named after a letter in the alphabet, and each street name within the boundaries of that section begins with that letter. Got it?
L Section in Rohnert Park is no exception. Every street name begins with the letter L, so you will find Lincoln, Liberty, Lilac, Lombard and Lancaster as well as 17 other streets. And if that wasn't confusing enough, the L Section in Rohnert Park bleeds into the City of Cotati as well. The West end of Lincoln is in Cotati, the East end is in Rohnert Park. And to add insult to injury, you have to flip your Sonoma County Thomas Guide from page 424 to page 444 to see the entire section.
That being said, the L Section in Rohnert Park has been looking fabulous lately. During the last housing boom in 2004-2006, a lot of these homes changed hands and have been remodeled. The L Section in Rohnert Park consists of mostly single level homes built in the early 70's. With the square footage averaging between 1000 to 1350 square feet, these L Section single level homes have become very popular among the pre-baby boomers looking to scale down into a home without stairs to navigate. The baby boomers will be the next wave of L Section enthusiasts.
In the L Section in Rohnert Park, you will find Ladybug (of course it starts with an "L", what were you thinking?) Park, a great play area with, until recently, a pool. Due to the state of the economy, the pool has been filled in with dirt. A hope is that someday in better economic times, the pool will become functional again.
Another great aspect about the L Section is location, location, location. The L Section in Rohnert Park is within 2 miles of Sonoma State University. Within blocks you will find Oliver's Shopping Center with Oliver's Market as the anchor. Have you ever been to a Whole Foods Market? Well this is pretty much what Oliver's is. The selection of just about anything you could want is amazing.
Also in the Oliver's Shopping center you will find the post office, a dog groomer, barber, dry cleaner, Starbucks, several restaurants, a jeweler ... pretty much everything you need in a convenient location.
