50 things to do in NC Triad

I have compiled this list based on my own experiences living in the Triad. I know there are more venues and iconic events that I am missing so please feel free to add them in the comments section. Meanwhile, I think this is a pretty cool list of some really fun and unique things to do in the NC Triad. A few of these are a little outside the area but our geographical location makes them so accessible that I had to include them. This list includes Mocksville, Winston Salem, Kernersville, Lexington, even Stokesdale and the surrounding areas. Enjoy!

1)       Get a half BBQ chicken at Keaton’s Chicken

2)      See the big chair and chest of drawers in High Point

3)      Tour Korner's Folly in Kernersville

4)      Eat at the Mellow Mushroom in Downtown Winston Salem

5)      Fish/ski/boat at High Rock Lake

6)      Scuba Dive in Belews Lake

7)      Visit the Cooleemee Bull Hole Park

8)      Hike around Pilot Mountain State Park

9)      Stay at a cabin in Hanging Rock State Park

10)   Zipline at Carolina ziplines

11)   Catch a trout at Stone Mountain State Park

12)   Watch cars race at Bowmen Gray Stadium and maybe a demolition derby!

13)   Attend a baseball game for the Winston Salem Dash

14)   Tailgate at a WFU football game

15)   Canoe down the Dan River

16)   Catch a catfish in the Yadkin River

17)   Have some wine at Childress Vineyards in Lexington

18)   Catch a show at the Barn Dinner Theater in Greensboro

19)   Buy some art at the Bob Timberlake Gallery in Lexington

20)   Take in some History at Old Salem gardens and museum

21)   Tour Richard Childress racing museum in Welcome

22)   Do some shopping at Hanes Mall in Winston Salem

23)   Get some laughs at the Comedy Zone in Greensboro

24)   Pick your own strawberries and make a cobbler

25)   Get some fresh produce from the NC Triad Farmers Market in Greensboro

26)   Attend the BBQ Festival in Lexington (October)

27)   Watch the Kernersville Christmas parade

28)   Watch a WFU basketball game

29)   Get wet at Emerald Point water park in Greensboro

30)   Tour the furniture capital of the world, High Point

31)   Eat a pimento cheese burger from Miller’s in Mocksville

32)   Get in the car and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the fall foliage

33)   Take a weekend trip to the outer banks

34)   Tour the Bethabara Settlement in Winston Salem

35)   Climb Jack’s beanstalk at the Children’s museum in Winston Salem

36)   Watch the stars at SciWorks science museum in Winston Salem

37)   See some African American Art at WSSU’s Diggs Gallery

38)   See the Christmas lights at Tanglewood park

39)   Play golf on one of the MANY golf courses

40)   Go for a swim in the lake or the pool at City Lake Park in Winston Salem

41)   Get a lake front meal at the Carolina Marina at Belews lake

42)   See the museum of Anthropology at WFU

43)   Camp out at Oak Hollow Lake

44)   Smell the roses at Reynolda Gardens at WFU

45)   Speed over to The Winston Cup museum

46)   Crawl in a cave at Daniel Boone Park in Lexington

47)   Ride a horse at Love Valley in Iredell County

48)   Eat a home cooked buffet, The Classic in Denton

49)   Ride ATVs in the Uwharrie National Forest

You should add North Carolina A&T State University's homecoming, the Mattye Reed African Heritage Collection in the university gallery, and the A&T Four statute.
