To Mow or Not to Mow, That Is the Question...

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Obbee.com

Lawn-mowing season is upon us!  My dilemma this year is whether to use the service I've engaged in the past, or to do it myself.  I have mixed feelings...

The "pros" of using the service are that it never procrastinates, it does a nice job, and it frees up my time.  Not mowing the yard means an extra couple hours with my family each weekend.

The "cons" of using the service are that it's a lot less expensive for me to do it myself, plus, pushing the mower around is an extra couple hours of exercise each week that I wouldn't otherwise get.

Based on those pros and cons alone, it seems like either a win/win or a lose/lose situation.  To make a decision, I'll have to choose- subjectively- whether the pros or cons are personally more important.  In effect, I'll have to "sell" myself on one of the options.

When it comes down to it, that's really the essence of sales.  Where pros and cons are objectively obvious, there's no real need for sales assistance.  Most of life is organic, messy and unclear, however.  So much of life is subjective that we welcome help in making decisions.  It's why we're open to advertising; subconsciously or not, we recognize we need a push in one direction or another to determine how to spend our money, time and other resources.  There are pros and cons to just about everything, but an experienced salesperson can guide his or her clients to figure out what will make their lives better and increase their happiness.  That's a tall order... and it's why folks are willing to pay fees and commissions.

Choosing to work with Obbee is easy.  We're at the cutting-edge of the sales lead industry, using the internet to create (real-time) prospect lists for the real estate, insurance (home & health), mortgage, debt settlement and loan modification fields.  We match clients up with sales professionals every day.  If you want your lawn cut, however, you're on your own,

Dave

I have about an acre and a half of back yard.

That pretty much means a service.

Lenn: Thanks for the feedback!  That supports the point I was making.  Based on your comment, to you an acre and a half is objectively large enough to require a service.  So, it's not an issue.  There would be some point, though, maybe one acre, maybe 1/2 an acre, where it would no longer be an objective scenario.  Then, some salesmanship, whether personal (like my situation) or external would be needed.

Well written.  Sometimes it just comes down to which sales pitch is better presented.

Thank you for the compliment, and I agree: presentation is important.  It's part of what sets apart good salespeople from not-so-good.  :)

I have about 3 acres so I use the same service that mows the lawns for my clients' rental properties when needed.  I have an enclosed dog yard of about 1/4 acre that I mow with a walk-behind mower - helps me bond with my dogs and check where they are digging!!!
