Sorry Folks - There Is No Magic Pill

I meet with a lot of people.  We talk about success, we discuss strategies, and we share ideas.  All of that is awesome.  Invariably, however, I meet people who think they have found the magic pill for success in real estate.  Short sales, social media, SEO, tech gadgets, killer scripts, fancy print marketing. . . the list is endless.

While all of the tools available to professional consultant s and sales people are helpful (and I love them, too), at the end of the day, there is no one thing that will make you successful.  Not even lead generation.  Even the greatest lead generators have to have systems in place to allow them to deliver what they promise to their clients - otherwise known as "service after the sale".

So what does make a business owner successful?  In my professional opinion, there is one key ingredient PASSION for what you are doing - and a reason why you are doing it.    As I once heard someone say, "You've gotta have the want to's".   You can have all of the systems and tools in the universe, and a masterful plan, but if you don't want to execute the strategy, it's all for naught.

If you have a WHY for what you are doing, the other things will follow.  You will make time to prospect, you will provide excellent service, you will become more efficient, you will invest in your career.

 So if you find yourself struggling in your business, my best advice is to remember why you got into real estate in the first place.  If it was simply to make money; that will never be enough.  You have to ask yourself WHY you want or need the money . . . that will help you determine your real reason.

Stop looking for the magic pill and start finding your underlying motivation.  That is where true growth and personal increase are found.

Above all, be true to yourself, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.
