Some benefits of living in the Poudre River Canyon, Bellvue, Colorado, 80512
The Poudre River canyon features 64 miles of Cache La Poudre river as it flows east out of Rocky Mountain National Park. Did I mention it is surrounded by Roosevelt National forest? This recreational paradise is known for many outdoor activities and Colorado's only National Wild and Scenic river. The ease of access is just one feature; the river follows Highway 14 down the canyon. Here are some reasons I enjoy this area:
1. Gateway Natural Area: The place where the North Fork and Poudre meet with easy access and only 15 miles from Fort Collins. This is an excellent area for families. Some activities include hiking, picinic areas with grills, fishing and launch area for river activities. For more info please visit Gateway Natural Area.
2. Seaman Resevoir: A short hike from Gateway, this reservoir has a larger variety of activites including fishing and hiking. Access is easy and requires a small hike but affords great views and good fishing.
3. The River activities: camping, rafting, tubing, kayak and fishing. The fishing along the Poudre Canyon is pretty good for Browns and rainbows. (Some areas are native areas so no bait fishing, check your maps!) The rafting is great for any type of river experience. There are many great organized outfits to contact for shuttles/equipment just outside of Fort Collins.
4. Roosevelt National Forest: This canyon is surrounded by wildlife/parks/forest! Hunter? Hiker? Mountain Biker? ATV's? Equestrian? Choose your activity and your off! I don't think I can say anymore here, your possibilites are endless. Check out this interactive Colorado forest map!
5 Location. This area is easily commutable from Loveland, Berthoud and Fort Collins Colorado. Real estate is fairly sparse along the Poudre Canyon but there are some vacant parcel and homes on the market. Search Poudre Canyon real estate and Poudre canyon vacant lots.
