The economic downturn impacts Habitat for Humanity of Wausau. Habitat for Humanity of Wausau revenues that have been used to build houses for families living in substandard conditions have been reduced significantly because of the poor economy. Contributions and revenue from fund-raising events are down 75% from previous years. In response Habitat for Humanity's Board of Directors has reluctantly decided that it will suspend its partnership with Wausau East, DC Everest, and Mosinee High Schools in building homes. No homes will be built through the partnership during the 2010-11 school year. The partnership with the high schools has produced 19 homes since its inception in 2003. Initial plans are for the organization to downsize and align its future home production with its revenue.
