Several years back the great state of Indiana used "Wander Indiana" as a marketing phrase and placed it on our license plates. This was not the most popular move as many people did not care for the tag line. I was fairly neutral on it. I didn't love it; I didn't hate it.
Yesterday my partner and I were in fact wandering Indiana and it was glorious. We were in Jackson and Brown Counties which must be God's territory. The Redbuds were blooming as were every other type of flowering trees native to the hills of Southern Indiana. The sky was blue and the winds calm. It was the type of day that you hope for every day.
What I like about wandering along back roads is you can take the time to truly see. And what you see can be quite unexpected. We saw the usual cows, pigs, chickens, and horses. But we also saw llamas, alpacas, and a camel all in separate areas!
We saw picturesque farms and country churches. But was really interesting to us were the church signs. One said "Strangers Expected". What a nice attitude. My favorite, though, was the one that said, "If you don't like the devil's fruit, then stay out of his orchard".
Hmmm....
As you wander your state or city, be alert to the unexpected, the humorous, the interesting, or the just plain weird. Let me know what you come up with.
