gazebo Preparations Underway for the 114th Boston Marathon - Hopkinton Massachusetts

The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest and most well-known marathon and also carries with it a great deal of prestige for the winning runners.

With up to 25,000 participants from all over the world, the famous race begins in Hopkinton, runs through Ashland and seven other cities and towns and eventually winds its way into Boston's Back Bay.

During this drizzly and chilly afternoon, preparations have been underway for the running of the Boston Marathon which will take place on Monday, April 19.

The Boston Marathon in Hopkinton Massachusetts is a great tradition and fun for everyone observing. But those of us who live in and around it also refer to it as the biggest traffic jam of the year.

Plan your viewing of the Boston Marathon so that you can get the best seats - just don't plan any appointments in Hopkinton between the hours of 10:00 to 5:00, because you won't get through the traffic - or the runners.

I didn't realize the marathon was on a Monday, what a traffic nightmare!  But that sure looks like a lot of fun if you can take the day off and enjoy it.

Well, today is the day! I've run 7 marathons but I am too slow to qualify for this one. Even at my age I would have to run a 3:45:59 to qualify and the fastest I have ever run was a 4:04 several years back! I am looking forward to watching on TV though...

4:04 - I am impressed.  I could never run 26 miles.  I play tennis four times a week but, running, that is quite another thing!  You must be in great shape.  I will be interested to know how the race turns out this year.
