Many of my clients know that Oxford is a great place to buy investment property.
The DAILY LOCAL NEWS in West Chester, PA, reports that the Oxford Borough Council may extend inspections to commercial rental properties The Borough already inspects residential properties and requires that rental properties meet maintenance code standards before occupied.
The inspections are being expanded to include commercial rental properties to improve the downtown business district. Why? Thee have been complaints about empty storefronts and others that appear rundown.
Borough Manager Betsey Bratner noted Oxford has already developed a list of about a dozen buildings where the owners will be approached about making improvements. Bratner raised the subject of tax incentives for new businesses that locate in the borough.
Also related to rental properties, at a public meeting scheduled for April 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Borough Building, 401 East Market Street, Oxford Borough Council will conduct a public hearing to consider an amendment that would regulate disruptive conduct in rental properties. The ordinance prohibits an owner of residential rental property from engaging in, tolerating or permitting tenants and guests to engage in disruptive conduct on, in or adjacent to the residential rental property.
