Mail in Form To verify Your Home Stead Exemption its with your Spring Taxes

Along with my Hendricks County Spring Property tax Bill was a new Form I had never seen.  If you have a Home Stead Exemption on your Real Estate You own and you think your covered, Think again.  Along with the new law that requires investors to pay a higher tax base comes a whole new problem.  Fraud by people that rent out their second home or investors that buy property and rent hoping to make a profit. So we the home steaders that actually do live in our homes are required to file a form saying that we do indeed live there.

The instructions that I got said to fax it over and the fax receipt would be proof that it was paid, the only problem was that I got an accepted notice by my fax machine but no receipt.  I called the Auditors office and they said they had 400 of them and couldn't possibly go through to verify, I said, no problem I will just come to the Auditors office for a receipt, which I did.

I just want to tell every one in the State of Indiana that has a home stead exemption you must mail this signed form in and I would make sure that you get a receipt.  When I called them and asked what happens to the people that forget or don't open and read for some reason or another.  She said they will lose their Home Stead Exemption.
