New York State Summer Music Festival - NYSMF! An extraordinary two, four or six week summer music camp filled with musical experiences for talented young musicians ages 11-25. As of today 4/17/10, we have students from 18 different countries and 30 different states in the US.


Located at Oneonta State College in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of Upstate New Y ork!

  • Choose from over 50 ensembles and classes
  • Perform in over 40 concerts this summer
  • Study one-on-one with some of the finest musicians from Julliard, Curtis, The Manhattan School of Music, The New York Pops, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The VanGuard Jazz Orchestra, and many, many other of the world's best performing ensembles.               

Some of the Highlights include:

  • Special Programs:   Compostition, Original Music Theatre, Classical Saxaphone Institute, International Flute Institute and the Yamaha Silent Electric Strings Program.
  • Orchestras: Chamber and Symphony
  • Bands: Wind Ensembles and Symphonic Bands
  • Choirs: Madrigal Ensemble, Select CHoir, All NYSMF Choir and Jazz Choirs
  • Chamber Music: Piano and Strings, Ensembles
  • Jazz "A Complete Jazz Experience": Select Jazz, Big Band Jazz, Lab Jazz, Jazz Choir, Jazz Combo's, Jazz Improv, Jazz History and Jazz Repertoire Workshops.
  • Instrumental & Vocal Programs: Piano, Strings, Performance and Technique COurses, Vocal Programs.
  • Musical Studies: Beginning Guitar, Guitar, Beginning Piano, Piano, Conducting, Music History, Orchestration and Arrangement, Theory and Ear Training. Sight reading.

NYSMF's Visiting Artists Prgram provides a rare opportunity for our students to interact with professional musicians of international acclaim. The Visiting Artists perform Master Classes, workshops and often perform in evening concerts as soloists with our orchestras and in recitals.
