The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Elk Showed Their Stuff on Saturday.

By
Real Estate Agent

Saturday I enjoyed another photography class with Bob Grytten, and we were lucky enough to have great weather early in the morning, and to be greeted almost at the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with quite a few elk. They were grazing and seemed to be posing for us at times.

Many people visit this area to visit the elk, as it just takes about 30 minutes from Maggie Valley to drive up the mountain and reach the entrance of the National Park. Early morning and late afternoon provide the best opportunities to see the elk.

You are so lucky to be so close. I have at least a 3 hour drive to in order to get there. The pictures are great...

Yes, amazing photos Susie. How fortunate you are to be so close-up to these Elk and the National Park. Looks like you're participating in a great photography class too.

Nice photos but the one with the numbers on the ears looks a little be-fuddled. At least the colors match ;-)

Susie, I did not know Elk lived in North Carolina. It's amazing that you were able to be close enough to get these shots.

What magnificent creatures, Susie. I have only seen them in the zoo, never live. I love your photography - it just keeps getting better and better.

Cheers,

Jeff

Susie, great photos!  I have never gotten that close to wild elk to shoot those type of photos, so I find them really cool!

Good Morning Susie, What wonderful photos. I loved Missy's comment about the earrings. Those yellow tags certainly stand out. I would guess it also makes them more difficult to hide. I understand why they have them but somehow it feels intrusive into their lives.
