A few weeks after consistently looking at many Tucson homes, my Buyer was finally ready to make an offer.
Of course we had to go back to the home he LOVED for a second look. After a few minutes he said, "Ok - write it up." When I was done, we sat down and reviewed all the documents . After explaining each, I would say, "You'll need to sign here and initial here." After a few pages, he looked at me and said,
"How easy - you make all this commission and your job isn't even that hard to do."
Throughout the coming weeks - there were many things that came up leaving the Buyer frustrated, angry, elated, confused - you name it - we experienced it. I became his sounding board, the go-to person and the one who the Buyer insisted "fix everything and make it all better but don't let it cost me more money"!
Here we are, closing delayed and it's Friday. More phone calls, tense moments, etc. Buyer calls frantically with a louder voice than normal, "Can't you fix this - do something!"
So I "do something". After a few hours of calls, I get a little more info - enough to calm the Buyer. Before ending the call, he thanked me and said,
"I wouldn't want your job - it is hard work and then to deal with people that get mad and take everything out on you - and still expect you to do everything we want ."
Smiling to myself, I say, "That's not the hard part - the hard part is when those people don't recognize it."
