I cannot believe the things I do for my job. This past weekend, I really roughed it - I spent the whole weekend at the beach!
Huntington Beach to be exact, to promote Costa Rica real estate at the US Open of Surfing 2007. This is THE surfing event of the year, and it always happens out in Huntington Beach, CA. Surfers from all over flock to this event, and so it was a perfect opportunity to present Costa Rica real estate to these surfers.
For those of you who don't know much about Costa Rica or surfing, Costa Rica has long been on surfers' travel lists. 65% of the country's borders are coastal - that's over 750 miles of coastlines. Needless to say, there are a few surf spots in Costa Rica!
I myself was initially drawn to Costa Rica for this exact reason. As I came to know more about it, I recognized that Costa Rica is also a safe, friendly, and inexpensive country that also has numerous investment opportunities.
So at the US Open of Surfing, I handed out flyers and met some great people that were "stoked" (that's surfer speak for "excited") to talk about Costa Rica. I am constantly reminded how surfers are some of the most friendly people in the world, and so I had a great time.
It is now Tuesday, and my colleague and I have ended up with almost 50 leads from my weekend working at the beach! So, I better get calling...
