I am down 12 lbs in ...

I am just so excited that I had to share this.  My wife and I started a lifestyle change 12 days ago.  It is the KimKins plan.  It is a very low carb, high protein eating plan.  We thought it would be very hard, but it really hasn't.  My wife has lost 13 lbs in the last 12 days and I have lost 12.  I was 245 and now am 233, as of yesterday morning at the gym.  I noticed that I had trouble keeping my shorts up today.  We haven't cheated, but did a few times eat meals off the maintance plan and not the losing plan. Our bad, but we didn't know.  I have eaten double servings, even.  We have eaten out a few times also.  It has taught us what to eat and not to.  We have been very careful.  No sugars and no bread( I love bread).  And under 20 carbs a day.  But we are not starving.  Just thought I'd share.  Peace and have a blessed day.  Earl "The Pearl" Pearl

Great job...in such a short time! I have lost 12 but it has taken 6 months. Guess I am not as committed. Keep it up! Interesting my graphic at the bottom of this comment says "cashew." Are cashews on your diet?

Earl, I love the fact that you call it a lifestyle change and not a diet!

I was on a low carb eating plan way back and within the first week I lost 8lbs.

Keep up the good work!!

Way to go!!!

Awesome! My family and I have started going to the gym too.  So far I'm down 8 pounds.  We tried using a cross between the Atkins and South Beach Diets (I like fruit too much to do a total Atkins diet) We've really changed how and what we eat too.  It has taught the kids how to eat healthier too, not as much cookies and junk food.  It's Grandma and Grandpa that do us in!

Sean, Thank you very much.

Suzanne, I just joined the group.

Gary, nope, no nuts for me.  I just finally got tired of being tired and fat. And it helps a lot that my wife and I are doing this together.

Edith, I will and thank you for your support.  It has to become your lifestyle if you truly want it to last.

Debi, That is great.  I am so proud of you.  You just have to decide what is the priorities in your life and how does being fit fit in.  I love fruit and that is hard, but will be well worth it.  That is just me.  Anything you do is going to help you and your family be better.

Agnes, you are right there.  Thank you. Earl

My husband and I dropped 45 lbs between us on Weight Watchers.  Unfortunatley as soon as we got lazy I put 10 back on.....

However - I vow to try to start again!!

I am now down 14lbs and my wife is 17 lbs down in 27days.  I have been going to the gym 2 to three times a week.  I do see a difference.

Karen, that is still good.  Just get up and start again and you will be great.  I am sure of it.  Take care.

Kimkins is a very unhealthy plan and the woman who designed the plan is now being investigated for fraud.  She is an obese woman who never lost the weight and there is medical proof if you follow her diet as written, it is medically unsound.  You will damage your thyroid.  Please don't suggest this WOE to people

I know the diet works.  I have now lost 27 lbs. and my wife has lost 25 lbs.  Before we went on this diet, we ran it by our family doctor.  He didn't see any problem with it at all.  In fact, this diet is better than Atkins, since you aren't eating fatty meats, which is hard on your heart.  It won't cause thyroid damage.  The fact that you used the term WOE tells me that you have been on this diet at some point.  There are always going to be critics of ANY diet for varying reasons.  Maybe you are part of the movement wanting to start a class action lawsuit.  Reasons for the lawsuit could be a desire to profit monetarily, or maybe someone didn't lose weight because they really didn't follow the plan.  The true, unbiased facts about Kimkins as investigated by an independent party are:

Kimkins Diet is one of the newest and "trendiest" diets in the area of low carb weight loss today. The following is an honest and unbiased review of Kimkins which should be helpful to anyone who may be considering embarking on this diet. If you are familiar with low carb weight loss plans then you may already have heard of Kimkins - an Atkins diet with a difference.
So how is the Kimkins Diet different to Atkins? Some of the main differences are that she traded in meat such as beef and bacon for leaner low fat meats such as turkey, fish and chicken (without the skin). Also only very limited amounts of cheese are allowed as cheese is high in calories even though it is free of carbs.
As well as having access to the weight loss program she devised, Kimmer provides personal coaching to those who are interested in learning the secret to her amazing weight loss. She claims the Kimkins Diet Plan is 100% safe and effective, and on reading the countless testimonials on her website from those who have successfully lost weight with her plan, it is easy to believe that this could be the diet many people are looking for.
The Kimkins Diet Plan and coaching is available via a once off payment for lifetime membership, and currently her site boasts more than 2000 members and is growing each day. There is an abundance of great information, tools and articles added regularly. At the time of writing the Kimkins community forum has 66161 posts and is an amazing source of support and information for it's members.
What makes the Kimkins Diet unique?
You can expect to lose 5-10 pounds within the first week of being on Kimkins. For such a safe, simple diet that's FAST! Yes, alot of this is water weight, but after that you will start burning fat and can lose up to 1-2 pounds per day - slightly more if you are really overweight.
Another thing is that after the first week when ketosis is achieved the appetite is sufficiently suppressed that the diet becomes so much easier than many others. The reason most people fail when dieting is that they can't control their appetites and end up binge eating to satisfy their hunger.
What I don't like about the Kimkins Diet - the menu is a bit boring (although it's the same for most diets). The saving grace here though is that you won't be that hungry anyway. Plus the fact that you will be losing weight fast will be reward enough to hang in there.
Is it easy to stick with it?
Kimkins Diet is easier than many other diet plans out there. No diet is easy as such, but ketosis will help to control your urge to eat and you will find it easier to control your appetite. It IS strict, you won't be eating bread, cereal, dairy etc. but you WILL get used to it after a while.
Is it worth joining her site?
Absolutely, but only if you're really serious about undertaking the diet. Members come and go, but only those that are really dedicated get to where they want to be in their weight loss journey. Kimkins takes work, but the plan is effective, and along with the personal coaching and support you get from fellow members you will be successful if you give it your all.
The bottom line is that Kimkins diet, like any other, has it's good and bad points. However in the case of this diet, the good points far outweigh the bad and your final reward will be achieving the weight loss you've always desired. You couldn't ask for more than that!

Unfortunately, many folks don't reveal to their doctors the actual low calorie aspect of the Kimkins Diet and they just share the food list, which at first glance appears to be acceptable.

For an idea of how little one would be eating if you follow Kimkins as written, check out the pictures here:  http://mariasol-mariasol.blogspot.com/2008/02/kimkins-diet-plans.html

Very Low Calorie Diets are dangerous.  If you don't feed your body enough calories it will feed itself on your muscles, and it doesn't differentiate between which muscles, so remember your heart is a muscle too.

Do you seriously want to take diet advice from a morbidly obese woman who can't lose the weight herself and is smart enough NOT to attempt to follow her own dangerous Kimkins Diet?

Say NO to Kimkins!
