John, I have found that sometimes the smaller the transaction the harder I work or the more work there is to do. Doesn't matter if its a $90,000 or a $900,000 transaction if you've done all you can to help your buyers or sellers realize their goal, it's worth it. I know sometimes we wonder why we're doing this -- most of us are givers that's why.
An experienced agent once told me that everytime I closed on a property to take a small amount of the commission and spend it on me -- go out for a special dinner, buy the blouse, shoes, purse, whatever I had been wanting or needing -- just award myself with something. I often forget to do that -- but sometimes on the more difficult ones I do sometimes remember. Reward yourself on this one -- and if I remember the story include your wife! Y'all go to lunch or dinner at your favorite restaurant.
