This is the biggest mistake that a home owner can make....Do It Yourself Paining...If you don't know how to do it then don't try. Hire a professional.
This is a picture of a master bedroom that was obviously painted by an armature:
In this MLS photo it does not look that bad, in fact the listing agent stated that, "Custom Interior Paint", was one of the good features of this home.
However, when entering the room one can see visually that the edges are all sloppily done.
Do it yourself paining is probably one of the biggest turn offs to buyers.
Do it yourself painting...
- Can make a really nice home look really bad
- Colors that are too bright or too dark are also a mistake
- Painting every room a strange color is another turn off
- Mixing Green with Red or Mustard Yellow with purple is also a common mistake
When walking through a home that has been painted by armatures, buyers are totally distracted by the strange colors and often comment these words....."What were these people thinking?"
Whenever an investor flips a house the first thing they do is to paint the home a Neutral color.
Hire a professional to do it unless you really know what you are doing.
Some painters accept payment plans, so if you are thinking of painting your home before selling it they can be paid when your home is sold.
