Come to Charlotte and have a ball! There are so many places in the Queen City that offer recreational activities involving "ball" sports that you can have a ball just about anywhere in any kind of weather.

One of the hippest places to open in the EpiCentre Uptown is the new bowling alley, StrikeCity. This is not the stale bowling alley of yesterday with cigar smoke, flat beer, hard
plastic chairs, and bad food.  StrikeCity brings in world class DJs to get the crowd hopping on their enormous dance floor complete with state-of-the-art audio and video systems. Watching sporting events is an event in itself as there are plenty of big screen TVs and every seat in the house has a great view. There's no waiting in a sea of people for drinks because there are three full bars and table service, which includes a full menu of food. Their focus is on: service, hospitality and comfort.  You won't go hungry at StrikeCity their fare includes gourmet pasta dishes, authentic New York style pizzas, specialty salads, burgers, sandwiches and wraps, and a kid's menu. Don't forget, you can bowl here, too! Plenty of lanes are available with computerized screens to keep score and rotate several players on a team.

For the younger members of the family who are interested in playing baseball or softball and want to improve their skills, HQ4 Baseball & Softballteaches the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting, pitching, catching, base running and more. Their staff is composed of former college and professional players, including some of the top high school coaches from right here Charlotte. Anyone at all can take part in year-round batting practice indoors at Grand Slam USA at 10715 Independence Pointe Parkway in Matthews. Plus, they offer baseball and softball instruction to boys and girls ages 6-18, including: private lessons, specialty clinics, hitting leagues, coaches' clinics and seasonal camps. Their focus is on over all conditioning, fundamentals and teamwork. Grand Slam USA offers radar guns for rent to get an idea of how fast that pitch is being sent from the mound and how quick the bat is zinging it back! There are event party room rentals, private lessons, academy with equipment rentals, and other individualized options available.

We've gone from the big bowling ball, to the smaller softball and baseball, so let's take a look at the even smaller golf ball. Charlotte is a Parade of Mowers AugustaHUGE golfing city and one of the most famous places to learn the game of golf or to enhance your existing skills is the Dana Rader Golf School with locations at theBallantyne Hotel and Lodge, as well as the Statesville Country Club. Dana Rader, the school's founder is an LPGA Master Professional. The school offers many programs to choose from: Men's, Women's, and Junior's Academies. The juniors' program introduces young golfers to the game in a fun and creative learning environment with the goal of encouraging family golf, so that children can enjoy the game both on the golf course and in clinic formats. Pee wee clinics and summer camps are offered, but don't think the adults are left out! When the company wants to meet up in a casual environment and have a good time; up to 30 people at a time can acquire a half-day or full-day of golf instruction. BOA StadiumIf you're a passive "baller" and want to have a ball from the stadium seats, you know we've got that covered for you in the Queen City as well! The basketball season is almost over but the Charlotte Bobcats always exciting to watch. Naturally, the Carolina Panthers play regularly during the football season right in the center of Uptown at Bank of America Stadium. The party always gets started hours ahead of time with tailgating parties and plenty of events at every pub and sports bar in the area.
