The "Most Livable Town in Tennessee, Murfreesboro" is filled with history. Founded in 1811 by the Tennessee State Legislature as the seat of Rutherford County, the town's original name was "Cannonsburgh."
Cannosburgh Village still exists as a reconstructed Southern village - a living history museum of early Southern life.
Last weekend Cannonsburgh hosted the 34th Annual Pioneer Days. The weather couldn't have been better for this educational, historical and entertaining event.
As the crowd enjoyed the village they were entertained by old-time music and dance and were treated to demonstrations of crafts, such as blacksmithing. Crafters were showcasing their original works and food vendors kept tummies filled - with everything from funnel cake to home-made strawberry jam.
This popular event - is one of the many reasons why Murfreesboro, Tennessee has earned its distinction as the "Most Livable Town in Tennessee!"
