We have not done this in a long time, so when my son asked me if I wanted to go to a model train show...Yea! I said.

I played around some with the models when I was in the pet/hobby business, but that was 20 years ago.  I still have my train from when I was 2...and it is in fantastic shape still.

I have noticed the change in this hobby.  The electronics.  As with everything else, the Electronics allow the hobbist to do more stuff a lot easier.

While the young kids drool about having a train like that...

They don't have the artistry or the money to build the elabrate system that were shown.

When it comes right down to Model Railroading...

It is big kids playing with expensive toys!

I was asked by a lady looking at one of the setups..."how long does it take to finish a setup like this?"

I replied..."You are never finished with it.  If you can say you are finished...you are no longer interested!"

Bill...

I love model railroads, but due to the devaluation of the dollar, it has gotten VERY expensive. I still have my trains from when I was a kid too.

Bill, as an able bodied person, I would not wnat to work on this during the summers nice days.  As a matter of fact, sitting around at any time  when one could be out doing something seams liek a waste.

Bill - I have often considered taking up this particular hobby with my son.  Thanks for the reminder!

I am awed by some of  the models. Who has room to create something like that? This wpold have made a wonderful dad/son day. My husband and son have a "boys day".  My son is always excited. He loves to tell me how I a not allowed to come.
