Where everyone knows your name.......

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

These of course are the lyrics of the theme song to the TV show, Cheers.  While I loved that show, this blog is more about the town of Parowan.  Darcy and I lived in Parowan for a couple of years.  It was where I was first licensed as a Realtor.  It is a small town, but then small towns aren't for everyone.

Thursday, Darcy and I were helping a couple of our friends with Social Media, they are friends from the Real Estate office in Parowan.  As I sat there talking with them, these words came to my mind.  They fit Parowan and it's lifestyle very well, and sometimes it is good to go where everybody knows your name!

Tony,

I love the lyrics to that theme song... like Cheers, but loved Frazier even more and I hum the theme song to that show all of the time also.... I don't think I've ever served tossed salad and scrambled eggs together but sure do sing them together.  Your street in the photo looks like small town America.. LOVE IT.

Pretty town. My goal is to have everybody know my name here in Virginia Beach... but only in a good way....

Ever notice that most of the notorius people use their middle names? Lee Harvey Oswald, Mark David Chapman, John Wilkes Booth, etc...  odd... huh?...

Wanda, this is true, there is nothing like feeling that you're home.

Judi, I liked them both, but before Coach died, I thought that Cheers was one of the funniest shows ever written.  I think that I preferred Frasier to the later Cheers, but that doesn't mean that I disliked Cheers, the Coach Character was just so funny, that Woody was a great replacement, but the original was far better.

Ingrid, that is a good goal!  That is odd that infamous people use their entire names.  I guess that if there were a Lee Mark Oswald, or a Mark Harry Chapman etc. they would go by Mark, and Harry and drop their first names, I know that I would!

Sea to Sky, thanks!

Tony and Darcy!  That is a beautiful looking town.  A movie theater and a cafe-that is the heart of any downtown.

I think the press likes to add the middle name when someone becomes very notorious.  I can still remember one of the press conferences from the JFK assassination and how the police would give the FULL name and the reporter wrote it down and it was in the papers the next day.

Tony and Darcy - I've never lived in a place small enough that everyone would know my name - but it seems like it would be a GREAT to try:-)

Bruce, Thank you, it is a beautiful town.  My mother grew up here, so I know that I am biased.

Sharon, that is cool, I grew up in a similar town, it was a lot of fun.

Myrl, Darcy is in the same boat, we tried, but found that we were travelling to and from Cedar City (where we now live) 5 and 6 times a day.  So it made sense to move the 18 miles to where we were working.

I love the rural areas but only if they are close to a big city. I discovered in high school that being in a town where everyone knows your name (and your business) was not for me. LOL
