Farmer's Markets In Atlanta GA
It's that time of the year when the Farmer's Markets in Atlanta GA flourish, just like the produce, fresh fruit, cheeses and jams they sell! And in the Atlanta area, we certainly have a few to choose from. Let's start with those closest to Midtown Atlanta.
Green Market at Piedmont Park
This market, opened by the Piedmont Park Conservancy, begins Saturday, May 1 and every Saturday until December 11. The market is held on the "street" in the park, at the 12th Street Entrance. Everything from fresh produce, honey, sauces, pasta, cheese and pastries can be found here. You can be even more green since it is walkable from your home in Historic Midtown or most of the Midtown Atlanta Condos. 9am - 1pm
Morningside Farmers' Market
This year-round market in Morningside is open from 8am to 11:30am. It's located at 1393 N. Highland Avenue, across from Alon's Bakery. In mid- April (like already started) there are chef demonstrations using foods from the market. So, you'll learn what to do with those fresh beets, carrots, and asparagus that you just picked up!
Studioplex Green Market
This one's a bit confusing. I read in a local paper it would start in May, but a visit to their website says July 12? What? The middle of the summer? Check out the website in the link above for any potential updates on this one.
Sweet Auburn Curb Market
This is not your ordinary farmers' market. This one's indoors, open year-round AND it's become a shopping and dining destination. No less than ELEVEN restaurants to pick from! And a variety of meats, seafoods and baked goods will be sure to fill your shopping bags. (Make sure you bring your reusable bags! Let's keep it green!)
East Atlanta Village Farmer's Market
This market, located at Village Hardware at 1231 Glenwood Avenue opens May 6 and will then be open every Thursday from 4pm until dusk. From organic granola, fresh breads and grass-fed beef from Farmhouse Beef. (Now, I'm checking this one out for some great grilling steaks for this summer!)
