Realtor Against Realtor

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with J Redding Realty

I really have a  problem with other Realtors talking against each other.  I think we have a hard enough time in this business, and Realtors already get a bad name.  When these agents talk bad about you to your past clients, agents, lenders, etc, don't they think it will get back to you?  It just shows how unprofessional they really are.  Do they not realize that when they do this, it shows people that THEY are the ones who are unprofessional, and it turns off clients ?  Do they really need to stoop to this level to try to show that they are better ?? As time goes on and you hear this particular name mentioned, you start to see that this was not the first time they did this to get business and they are in turn are making a bad reputation for themselves in the industry.  No revenge needs to be taken as they already are ruining their own name, so to the person that is doing this... keep going and pretty soon YOU will be the one it comes back to as it has already started.  Lets not give Realtors a bad name !!!

Come on everyone, if we stck together and help each other, the Real Estate industry would be a much better place !!

Bad-mouthing happens in every business or profession.  We can all talk about how unprofessional it is but it will continue.  I think the best you can do is to not respond in kind when you find you are under attack.  Charlie Gantz, Greenwood, IN; J.D., M.B.A.; Owner/Principal Broker, Atlas Property Group, LLC

Jean:

It is not only unprofessional but is also a violation of our code of ethics. It is rare that anyone is actually brought before the board about it - but, it can happen.

I think it goes back to when they first started in the business....were they taught the right way how to do things from their broker or manager.....yes it ultimately comes down to how you are as a person but if you are taught how to be the right kind of agent to begin with it may just hold over throughout your career...

I agree with what you're saying. Realtors doing trash talk hurt the industry.
