Here is Southwest Airlines newest member of its fleet, launched today.

It is "Florida One," and it joins its place among the other commemorative jets that Southwest has done.

This is is quite special - just from an artistic standpoint.

It was unveiled today, April 23, 2010.

It took 8 days to complete with 32 people working 3 shifts. It has 16 different paint colors and took approximately 46 gallons of paint. Some 150 different stencil pieces were used to create the logo.

Southwest reports that the challenge of painting this plane was recreating the Florida State flag logo using only the drawing for reference and the stencils for outline. Then, they had the added challenge of making both sides exactly symmetrical.
