What do you "Embrace?" What do you stand for and what do you Represent? It's funny, when I started thinking about this a lot of it can be defined in your Goals and your Favorite Quotes and even Random comments friends and family and "teachers" have said all along the Journey of your Life.
What do you "Embrace?" What do you stand for and what do you Represent? One of my top favorite quotes was in an Ann Landers post that said, "Character is what you are willing to do when the lights are turned off and noone is around to give you credit." Enough said. I had the quote on my desk a long time. Another favorite quote is never, never quit. I had a Chem Lab Professor walk up to me at Virginia Tech and say, "No matter what you do in life, you will be successful because you never quit." And I never do. I am over, around and under the fence to get the job done but remember the character thing plays in there at the same time. You know what I am going to do because I am just that plain and simple about it. It's kind of refreshing at times and sometimes it is kind of rough because you may hear what you do not want to hear. What a mix. I like my friend Kay's quote that you train people how to treat you. Like my Mom says, be your own best friend. I like the quote that your life is the sum of your choices. So choose wisely. I like how my friend Charlie always says, "Girl, you are nothing but the truth." That's it. I am just right there. There's no wondering what I say or think or I am going to do but be clear it may not be what you want to hear. You will not wonder with me. I also love the quote that "Not all people deserve a front row seat in your life. Some you send loving thoughts to from a distance." My version, though, is that you just have to throw some off the bus. Again, you never wonder with me. There just might be an ouch factor now and then.
What do you "Embrace?" What do you stand for and what do you Represent? I've learned that maybe generally means no. I've learned people say what they mean a lot of the time and you just have to listen. I have learned what I don't want which means I know what I do want in my life. I like Family and Friends. I like a Good Golden Retriever at my side. In a pinch, a bad one will do. Riley Rover has grown up so I can now laugh about this! I learned that the good relationships come easy. I've learned there's not much better than a good glass of iced tea with a Golden Retriever at my side on a Sunny Day by the Chesapeake Bay...with a side trip to Starbucks and a perch on the beach at Neeld Estate with my Folks thrown in the mix at the end of the day. Oh, and a few chats with lifelong friends, too. It's just that simple.
