Los Angeles Home Stager Gets Crafty With Fake Succulents

By
Home Stager with Moving Mountains Design Home Staging, Pasadena, CA

As I wrote in an earlier post Los Angeles Home Stager Gets Crafty With Silk Flowers, I enjoy making my own silk flower arrangements to use in my Los Angeles Home Staging projects. I enjoy the artistic aspects, I enjoy saving a little bit of money, but mostly I enjoy creating floral and plant arrangements that look exactly like what I want them to look like, so they strike the perfect note when I am staging a home in Pasadena or Los Angeles.

It was another beautiful day in Los Angeles, so I set up my flower arranging table on the back patio to make some more silk and faux flowere arrangements. I decided to work with some fake succulents that I had purchased last year, but had only used sporadically since they weren't in any kind of arrangement.

Fake succulents work especially well when staging a contemporary home. They also work well when you need a statement piece - something that will call attention to a particular area or architectural feature.

Fake succulents for home staging are difficult to find in stores, and when you do, they're very expensive. I purchased a larger succulent arrangement for an interior design client last year and paid $350 WHOLESALE!

One of the things that sets Los Angeles home staging company Moving Mountains Design apart is our attention to every detail, including making sure we have the right accessories and plants to make your home memorable.

Thanks Sally. I already had the cream ceramic container in my inventory. The two metal containers were puchased at Tuesday Morning. One was $3 and the other was $4. Quite the bargain. I'm not above shopping at thrift stores to find interesting containers. I've even purchased some ugly flower arrangements that had nice containers, ditched the old flowers and built a new arrangement in the container.

Ginger:There are lots of florals & greens arrangements around, but succulents are really unique.

Jo: Never had it happen, but I don't think it would hurt anything. Just pour out the water and let em dry out.

Incredible!  Love these, Michelle.  And... I always forget about Tuesday Mornings. I know I shouldn't as they can have some awesome deals.

Michelle: I think the best stagers/designers are the ones that look everywhere and find the hidden treasures. The idea to get rid of the ugly arrangements and just keep the container is a great one I will consider going forward.

I love the first arrangement. I've never seen faux succulents!

Kathy: Thanks! I have a Tuesday Morning near my house, so I pop in from time to time. They happened to have a lot of pots and garden stuff this time.

Cari: I can't tell you how many times I've seen a great pot with terrible flowers or a great arrangement in a terrible pot. I've gotten crafty :o)) and switch things about.

Thank you Cathy Lee!

How much did something like that cost you to put together? I'm having a bit of a problem with plants myself these days. I love putting huge trees inside these NYC condos it enhances the feel of the home, but I've been putting in real ones that are of course less expensive than fake. The real plants keep dying so in the end I'm probably losing out on money.

Any ideas where you can buy cheap tall plants?

Barbara: I get them from a variety of sources: Michaels, Stats (local to Pasadena) and Moskatels (local to Los Angeles  I think). I also purchase from some wholesale sources at their showrooms.

Tori: Cheap, no, but for relatively inexpensive plants ($50-$100), I usually purchase at Michaels. You can purchase them from wholesale sources as well, but watch out for the shipping charges.

Your fake succulents look very lovely, the same as alive.

I bought a few plants in Home Goods and use it all the time to bring color in both-rooms and dark places.
