Day Trip from Shawnee, Ks to see the tulips in Topeka, KS. Day trips are fun. From my Shawnee, KS home, it's an easy drive to Topeka, Ks. Topeka has an amazing Tulip Festival that just ended today. When my mom was visiting from Iowa, we took a day trip to Topeka and enjoyed the beautiful tulips and other flowers. Hats off to Topeka residents who invest time, energy, and money in creating such a beautiful place. Happy Spring!

Lea, Those tulips are just beautiful! What a nice way to spend your day....what kind of magic did you perform to get the pictures to upload to AR today. I've been trying all day with "bad gateway" and "proxy errors" and finally gave up and added my blog with the photos. Jay, thanks for the compliment on the flowers. I had a few problems getting the photos uploaded, but I think i as one of those I Dot 10T errors on the part of the user instead of anything that was going on with Active Rain. New servers coming. Yay!

Marilyn, I think the Tulip Festival in Topeka is new - I believe this is the second year. About 10 or 11 years ago my husband and I visited Binckley Gardens there which was a private garden. From what I understand the whole city has jumped on the tulip bandwagon. Since we're a little further south and a little earlier spring than Iowa, my mom really enjoyed the break from winter. It was a great day.
