Moose Win Situation! Go Habs Go!  A Photo Tribute to My Favorite Sports Team

I grew up in Montreal, Canada and I am a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens.   Here is my tribute and good luck wishes to the Montreal Canadiens from Red Lodge, Montana on Moose Monday.  All the photos below where taken Monday, April 26, 2010.

At the time of this post the Habs (famous nickname for the Montreal Canadiens) are leading 2-0 against the Washington Capitals after two periods in Game 6 of their series.  This is a moose win game for the Habs in order to tie the series at 3-3 and force a game 7 (best 4 of 7 series).

Place your cursor on each one of the photos to see what this Habs fan from Red Lodge has to say.

Marchel,

I am glad you got to find out about the team's main English nickname which is the Habs, an abbreviation of "Les Habitants" (French for inhabitants).

Thank you for the well wishes!   :)

Mary,

Thank you!   I also love the pasque flower also know as the prairie crocus, wind flower, Easter Flower and meadow anemone. .  They just started to bloom here and there on the sage brush hills near my house.

You probably know that the Colorado Avalache moved from Quebec City in 1995 and won their first Stanley Cup that same year.  They used to be called the Quebec Nordiques which was Montreal main rival at the time (I remember that every game between those two teams was talked about for days after the game as these two had a great rivalery in my high school years).

Liz,

Thank you for visiting my blog fom Montreal. I was surprised of how good the Montreal Canadiens played for the entire 60 minutes and how they contained the Capitals' offense.   Let's hope for a similar good performance by the Habs and Halak on Wednesday night to win the series.  Halak made 90 saves out of the 92 shots he faced in the last two games.   Go habs Go!

Hello Gerry and I love this post and would have featured it for sure, sorry I didn't run across any moose in South East Asia but I have some breath-taking photographs. I am headed back to America right now!

Vegas Bob,

I look forward to seeing more photos of your latest trip to South East Asia.  Just from the ones that I have seen so far, I do not doubt that the rest will also be breath-taking!  :)

Have a safe return to America.

Tony,

Thank you for the wish that the Canadiens do well.  I hope the Montreal Canadiens surprise all the experts by winning game 7 on Wednesday.   The Washington Capitals are the overwhelming favorites and not many would have thought there would be a game 7 in this series.

Gerry,

I'm very happy to support the Habs. The only times I switch are when the Leafs are in it. Possibly, one day!

Marc,

There a couple of other fans (Jester and Barkley) that were not seen in the photos!  :)

It feels good to be in the great Montana outdoors just before coming in to watch a great hockey game.

Brian,

The Leafs had a good end of season.   They did get me to worry when they managed to win the last game of the season against the Montreal Canadiens in overtime.   At the time, it insured that Montreal would make it in the playoffs but we had to wait and see till the last day to know the opponents of the Habs between the Washington Capitals, the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres.  The last two teams were upset by the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins and are already out of the playoffs.  It remains to be seen if Montreal can pull the biggest upset of the playoffs by beating the Washington Capitals in Game 7 on Wednesday.  All the support for the Montreal Canadiens including yours is appreciated!    :)

Cynthia,

This was my first staging post!  LOL

I am happy that you pictured the moose succeeding in his climb and conquest of the big mountain.  That is similar to the big task at hand that the Montreal Canadiens have to try and beat the Washington Capitals for a this time in a row (in the opponents hockey rink) in order to win their series and advance to the next round.

You did give me a great post idea and moose vision shoud the Montreal Canadiens win on wednesday night!  Stay tuned and Go Habs Go!  :)

That moose is already awesome.. but the HABS shirt takes it to the next level. Kylie is just the cherry on the cake. One problem: everyone will think that moose lurk everywhere in Montreal.... besides that thats the second coolest moose ive ever seen. The first is the one i saw live on that highway near Yellowstone.. anyways byebye

Aline,

No problem.  Lots od people think that moose lurk everywhere in Red Lodge as well (you are more likely to see them here but they are not lurking everywhere).  I have seen two moose (one per year) in Red Lodge in the past two years.  You and your sister were lucky to see 3 moose (momma and her calf) in the two weeks you were here visiting in Red Lodge and the one you mentioned just outside of Yellowstone National Park.

Here is a link to a post with a phto of that coolest moose!  :)
