Are you looking for an agent to help you sell your home through a short sale?    I am with Keller Williams in the Mount Pleasant office and I have worked with many home owners trying to get the home out of their name via short sale.

To qualify for a short sale you must...

• be behind on your mortgage payments
• have a higher mortgage balance than what your home is worth
• be able to prove you cannot afford to make the payments

If you have a lot of assets in your name a short sale is not for you.   The main reason being the bank make come after you for a deficiency judgement and sell off your assets to make up for the unpaid balance on your mortgage.   If you currently are under bankruptcy you must get permission from your bank prior to starting the short sale process, or wait until the bankruptcy has been completed.
