Sandwich Memories

By
Real Estate Agent with Hill Country Land and Homes Realty

I just read the top blogs on AR when all I can think about is sandwiches. Maybe I'm hungry. Doesn't everyone really LOVE sandwiches? If really good bread is essential, why does that first turkey sandwich after TG dinner HAVE to be on fresh squishy white bread with mayo, dressing and cranberry sauce? Ohhhhhh.......that memory got me

Here comes another - from the back stoop at my Uncle Chuck's house (because we weren't allowed inside - it was daylight, we were supposed to be playing.) One piece of Sunbeam bread smeared with oleo, sprinkled with white sugar and folded in half. That was passed through the screen door along with a glass of icewater in a Bama jelly glass. To hold us until dinner was served.

Now that I am way past being an adult, my current favorite is made with a wholewheat 12 grain bread with lots of chewy stuff in it, topped with crunchy peanutbutter and orange marmelade. I can keep all of this onhand for those times when I need to leave too early or come home too late and too tired to actually cook anything.

I am open for suggestions - there must be other good sandwiche memories out there.

Sounds familiar - my Mother might have made that for me in a lunch box long ago. No wait, that was that AWFUL Pimento Loaf - Argh! Yuck! Bleck!

Why would you need butter when you have an avacado? Remember a fab Avacado sandwich at an Ecuadorian avacado farm outside of Quito. It was an avacado fresh from a tree, fresh jugo de limon and an ever-so-slightly moldy piece of bread. Very good and you can use the avacado skin as an anti-wrinkle cream

What about that great bologna and cheese sandwich.  We took it to the pool in the summertime and ate it to tide us over for supper.  They were great!

Peanut butter and honey....the honey gets kind of crunchy on the bread.  I loved it when my mom would make these for us when we were playing out in the back yard during the summer.  Definately an outside sandwhich as they always seemed to drip honey no matter how carefully you at them!
