Oh my. I haven't heard about this. I do hope everyone is okay. I'll have to check the news. Thanks for the post.

Shell -- It was so considerate of you to blog about this. I just heard from Lori Matzke who lives in Minnesota and she is fine but concerned about a friend who travels over that bridge at that time of day. Lori has been unable to reach her friend at her home phone number and the lines are all tied up on cell phones. Please pray that Lori's friend was not a victim of this terrible tragedy.
Update: Thanks for your concern. The bridge that collapsed is on a major route through Minnesota. The interstate 35 splits east (St Paul) and west (Minneapolis) running north/south throughout the entire state. The bridge is approximately 1/2 mile long, with eight lanes of vehicles. The news reports have been pretty restrained, I believe. If the bridge was bumper to bumper during normal rush hour and add the Twins game, I am afraid there are many more dead. Currently, 20/30 local residents are reported missing but this is also a major interstate that many semi's travel. I believe the death toll will be much higher. It is going to be quite some time before the cars under the bridge may be recovered. My family and I use this bridge almost daily. Thank God everyone I know is safe and sound. My neighbor drove over the bridge at 5:45 and it collapsed at 6:05. She was pretty shaken. It was difficult getting a call out by cell or land line last night. We kept hearing "all circuits are busy". My poor mother was hysterical by the time we reached her around 9 pm. She could not get through to any phone... Including all four of my children. It was a pretty scary evening for us all.
