The "Carpe Diem" team of Leadership Johns Creek is asking for volunteers to help build Johns Creek's first Community Garden. The work day is scheduled for May 8 from 10am - 5pm- you can sign up here and follow the directions provided. Should you have questions or issues signing up, call Brandon Freeman at 404-488-4494 or email him at brandonf@perimeter.org.
The Community Garden will consist of 30 raised beds at Newtown Park in an empty space next to a planned future senior center. As envisioned, the garden will involve seniors, adults and families, providing opportunities for exercise, education, healthy food and creating a sense of community. The planters will be 4 feet by 8 feet and available by lottery due to limited space. The city will provide water- any other expenses will be the responsibility of the lottery winners. More information about the cost and applications (lottery deadline is April 30) is available at The Leadership Johns Creek website. If you have questions, contact Cindy Eade at 678-478-9354 or cindyeade@comcast.net.
So help out if you can on May 8 or sign up for a garden plot if you want to enjoy great fresh vegetables this summer!
