May 7th to May 24th
Join The Parade, listen to the bands, partake of the sights and sounds of liberation. Come and celebrate the spontaneous street party just as it happened, 65 years ago, May 7th 1945 on Sparks Street Mall in Ottawa.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands. With more than one million tulips in bloom from Commissioners Park, along Queen Elizabeth Drive to Parliament Hill and across the river in the Mackenzie King Estate in Gatineau Park the tulip Festival is a commemorative celebration of the role Canadian troops played in the liberation. This Year also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy
Following the liberation of Europe in the Second World War the Dutch Royal Family gave a gift of Tulips to the people of Canada starting a bond between our two countries and our people that is now a part of our heritage.
