The House That Built Me

By
Real Estate Agent with REMAX Distinctive Real Estate, Inc. VA 0225060562

I could never see a house simply as a piece of real estate - ever.  Even before my career in real estate, there was always a story I could see, hear and feel even in someone else's home.  I recently posted My First Love about the emotions I felt while closing a settlement recently with first-time homebuyers.  Ironically, this song was playing after the settlement and I was moved to tears by the lyrics.

I thought of young families suffering in this economy and losing their homes - their piece of security - their future.  It pains me to think of the children who leave their homes under such circumstances but I find comfort in knowing that God has a plan for us all to become stronger through all of this.  I pray this post helps us all feel compassion for those displaced by tragedy and that every child can feel a sense of peace and security wherever they call home.

I recently heard on the radio that this song was sent to Blake Shelton first, but he gave it to his girlfriend, Miranda Lambert, to record because by sheer coincidence it was the story of her family's struggles...making it all the more poignant! This is a song really hitting home for a lot of folks these days, I imagine.

Yes, I heard that, too! She really nailed it!  I cried like a baby the first time I heard it.  My husband built my "dream" home with his own hands...so that part just really hits home.
