The girls traveled to Providence Academy to face one of the top teams in the conference. This ended up being a defensive battle with our girls throwing out 2 girls at the plate and 2 girls trying to steal home. We also turned two double plays in the game. Going into the bottom of the 6th tied 0-0 the Providence team seemed worried. They brought their bats that inning though and scored 4 runs and won 4-0.
This game featured the first trick play pulled off the the Saints though since 2003. The double steal was on and Lauren threw to Jenny playing 2nd. Jenny had cheated in thow getting the runner at 3rd to head home. Jenny threw it right back to Lauren for the tag out! Very fun.
Friday night brought Heritage Christian for our home opener. Another close game with Meadow Creek scoring 2 times in the third even having two girls thrown out at the plate. Heritage score one run in the next 2 innings to tie the game at 2. The score was tied at 2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. Jenny led off with a screaming line drive down the 3rd base line for a double. Kelli hit one down the 3rd base line too, which the 3rd baseman stopped but decided to keep Jenny at 2nd, instead of throwing to first. Stephanie then came up and had her best hit of the season. A gapper to right center field, which scored Jenny and ended the game with the Saints notching their 2nd conference win of the year.
A fantastic finish indeed! Stop by for our next game at home Tuesday night at 4:15 pm.
