Tennis Ranked 13th in WORLD!Waterville Valley Tennis Resort Ranked 13th in World for 2010
The 11th annual ranking of tennis resorts and camps was just released by Tennis Resorts Online.  Waterville Valley has once again been named a Gold Medal Tennis Resort. The data for these rankings comes from vacationers - regular people who pay for their holiday and thus have the best possible perspective on the quality of the experience.  Vacationers must really like Waterville Valley, because the resort is ranked #13 in the world!  For 2010, the Tennis Resorts Online survey asked players to assess resorts and camps in 17 categories. The categories included not only all aspects of the tennis experience, but also a variety of off-court characteristics such as the quality of the lodging, restaurants, children's programs, and value for dollar.  Waterville Valley Resort also fared well in a couple of the individual categories, ranking 5th “Best Setting” and 4th for “Best Value for Dollar.”  Visit the Tennis Center online at wvtennis.com.

Yankee Magazine Editors’ Choice
Waterville Valley has been selected as a 2010 Editors’ Choice in Yankee Magazine’s Travel Guide to New England, available at newsstands now. This designation is awarded by Yankee’s editors and contributors who name select restaurants, lodgings, and attractions in New England to the exclusive list.  The 2010 Travel Guide features 312 “Best of New England — Editors’ Choice” selections, and Waterville Valley was included in the top 5 "Best Ski Resorts in Summer."

If you're looking for a summer camp for your kids, consider the Waterville Valley Summer Camp (WVSC), which offers day and residential programs for children ages 8-15.  For the second year in a row WVSC received an "Excellent" overall rating from the NH Department of Environmental Services which oversees all youth recreational camps in New Hampshire.  WVSC was recognized by New Hampshire Magazine as Best of NH 2009 for outstanding location and programming, and their unique programming was also recognized by BestCamps.org, which named WVSC as Best Residential Life/Sports camp in the region.  Learn more online at wvsportscamp.com.

Hannah Kearney

Olympic champion Hannah Kearney, who grew up skiing at Waterville Valley with the BBTS ski club, brought her gold medal to the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) convention, which is meeting now in Orlando, to say thank you to ski industry leaders for introducing kids to the sport at local areas.  The hundreds of NSAA resorts nationwide play many roles in the success of U.S. Olympians. "Local areas are essential to our athletic pipeline, providing a playing field for our 425 U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) clubs," said USSA Vice President, Athletics Luke Bodensteiner. "They play a key role in the success of athletes like Hannah, and can be proud of the role they've played in the success of our team in Vancouver."  Waterville Valley is a NSAA resort and BBTS is a USSA club.  According to Hannah, "Every resort that hosts a USSA club [and] holds USSA competitions...makes a difference for us as athletes," said Kearney.

We may be a small resort community, but we're sure getting some big press and recognition!

Sometimes the best of big things come in small packages. I'm sitting here right now watching the French Open results that I recorded earlier this morning.
