Easily add Facebook Like Buttons to your Wordpress blog

Note - this post was written by our head of Product at Roost, Brad Selby over at the Roost Blog.  Thanks Brad!

In a previous post, we discussed the benefits of Like Buttons for real estate professionals.  The crib sheet:  Like Buttons on blog posts are great because people can easily publish/”Like” your posts to their Facebook via wall and feed stories. Those stories will then reach a larger audience, which means more audience for you.

There’s good news out of developerland – the first excellent Like Button plugin for Wordpress has hit the streets.

It’s easy to install and gives you a bunch of features, not least of which is the Like Button itself on all of your posts.  You can configure how you want it to appear.

The plugin also allows you to add the Open Graph markup, which allows you to add metadata to your posts that will reflect in how they’re published on Facebook.  Think of this markup as analogous to SEO meta tags, which allow Google to understand your posts and how to present them in search results.  Open Graph markup allows Facebook to understand what the webpage is about (e.g. “article”), and how to present “Like” stories in Facebook feeds.

This info can get you more fans and views to your blog, so check it out.
